A local guide to the modest markets – Gresham Oregon
Gresham Farmer’s Market:
From the first Saturday in May, to the very last Saturday in October, the Gresham Farmers Market is open for your enjoyment, on NW Miller Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Street. From 8:30am till 2:00pm you can partake in the delights of fragrant breads and cheeses, amidst the agreeable (or maybe not so agreeable) sounds of rambunctious children, their parents scolding, and local musicians.
Browse an assortment of farm fresh items, handmade arts and crafts, many of which would look at home in your aunt’s farm-themed kitchen, children’s items made with a grandmotherly touch, and garden décor that would delight even the most cynical of fairy creatures.
EBT Match Program, Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program, WIC Vouchers, SNAP tokens, and Food RX vouchers all accepted.
If you have an infatuation with glass blowing and other fine arts, or love to fill your home (or stomach) with locally grown seasonal fruits and berries, fresh flowers, or sturdy succulents, look no further than Gresham Saturday Market. Deep in the heart of Mt. Hood Community College (in parking lot “W” at the corner of Kane and SE Stark Street to be exact), you can shop local produce and goods from 9:00am till 3pm every Saturday from mid-April till the end of September.
Amongst your fellow locals, discover delightful snacks and ethnic food vendors (bring your own antacid and properly cautioned partner), admire the tiny dogs adorned in human-like accessories, and swing your hips to the engaging tunes of local performers.
Bring your reusable environmentally friendly shopping bag to carry all of your loot, or go for a full blown farmer’s market experience and don a compelling sun hat with a large hand woven basket.
